About Dr. Layth Sahib

Dr. Layth Sahib is a Consultant Psychiatrist at ACPN. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Baghdad, Iraq (1996) and is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), UK (2005). Dr. Sahib completed his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Forensic Psychiatry, General Adult Psychiatry, and Rehabilitation Psychiatry in the United Kingdom. He also holds postgraduate diplomas in Forensic Mental Health from St. George’s University, London, 2011, and Mental Health Law from Northumbria University, 2015. Licensed in the UAE (DoH, DHA) and UK (GMC), he has completed specialized training in Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), an innovative, non-invasive treatment for depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Dr. Sahib’s career spans 20 years in psychiatry across the UK and UAE. Moving to the UAE, in 2023, he worked at Mediclinic as Consultant Psychiatrist. Prior to this, he served as Clinical Director of Forensic Service Line at Priory Health Care, managing 17 forensic settings across the UK, and as Medical Director at Priory Hospital Enfield and Suttons Manor Hospital. His leadership roles included clinical governance oversight, risk management, and performance improvement, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. His forensic expertise includes providing psychiatric reports for the UK’s legal system across all levels of security in forensic psychiatry. Passionate about teaching and research, he has published in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to training healthcare professionals of all levels of experience.
