Dr. Josee El Hayek

Dr. Josee El Hayek is a Clinical Psychologist at ACPN. She obtained her Doctorate in Psychology at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon in 2023 and her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 2015. She is a licensed psychologist in both Lebanon and the UAE and is recognized by the Commission of Psychologists in Belgium.

Dr. El Hayek has been in the field of mental health treatment and awareness for over eight years. She practiced clinical psychology in various interdisciplinary settings, primarily at the Association of Justice and Mercy (NGO) in Lebanon where she provided individual and group therapy to prisoners, victims of torture, substance users, and other vulnerable populations. She later started coordinating the Harm Reduction Program within the Association as well as the Awareness and Prevention Program related to HIV, both in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.

In addition to her experience working with adults, Dr. El Hayek provided counseling to hard-of-hearing children and adolescents at Father Andeweg Institution for the Deaf in Lebanon. She also assisted the educational and specialized team at the Institution in implementing intervention and prevention strategies.

Dr. El Hayek is a Faculty Member at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, since 2019.  She is a trained therapist inCognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), andEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Her broad range of skills allows her to work with adults facing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and grief, insomnia and other sleep disorders, interpersonal problems, and psychosocial difficulties. She adopts an eclectic approach to tailor the most effective methods to address each individual’s needs.

In addition to therapeutic treatments, Dr. El Hayek conducts psychometric assessments across different areas such cognitive abilities, academic skills, ADHD, personality, and adaptive functioning. Dr. El Hayek’s commitment to mental health and well-being is further showcased by her contributions to published articles and her involvement in workshops, awareness sessions, and critical incident responses during challenging times.
