About Marwa Itani

Ms. Marwa Itani is a Psychologist at ACPN. She received her Master’s degree in Psychology in 2017 from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts in 2009 from the Lebanese American University, Lebanon. Her initial years in communication arts combined with her work on an Emmy-Award winning series related to the human experience paved the way for her passion and commitment to psychology. In 2019, Ms. Itani completed an intensive two-year clinical psychology training program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. During this training, she specialized in an integrative approach of psychodynamic and cognitive behavior psychotherapies for adults. She gained experience in treating some of the most severe psychological disorders and led group sessions. Furthermore, as Ms. Itani values continuing education, in 2022 she became a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist and is certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders. Additionally, she is a licensed practitioner in Psychology in Lebanon and the UAE.

Ms. Itani has been working in the field of mental health through both research and clinical work for the past eight years. Prior to moving to Dubai in 2020, she worked in her own private practice in Beirut. Ms. Itani is also committed to continuous research in the field. She is a contributing author to a number of books published by the Cambridge Institute for Global Leadership such as:“Forget Happiness: Seven Steps to a Fulfilled Life”, and“Wide Open: The Ten Eyes of Leadership”. These books highlight the importance of self-awareness and finding one’s purpose.

Ms. Itani’s varied background in research and clinical psychology, as well as communication arts, gives her a unique approach to treating clients.  She is skilled at handling cases related to depressive disorders and anxiety disorders. Her main area of clinical interest is grief and trauma-related disorders and eating disorders. She has extensive experience in treating individuals who have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and family discord. She has also conducted many group grief counselling sessions in a variety of settings and companies.  Furthermore, she is a part of the Eating Disorders Program at ACPN and has dealt with and treated many cases related to a wide range of eating disorders. Most importantly, Ms. Itani believes in a comprehensive treatment plan for all her clients in order to help them receive the best care possible.
